Midori Colada
A Midori Colada might not be the first drink that springs to mind when you think of tiki, but there are plenty of tiki and tropical bars that keep this ever-popular drink on the menu. It’s like a pina colada, but with the addition of Midori melon liqueur, which sweetens the drink and adds a nice melon flavor to the coconut and pineapple base. Midori is fairly sweet on its own and can be overpowering in some cocktails, however it is delicious in blended drinks like this one, where the ice tempers that sweetness and lets the melon flavor stand out. The liqueur also gives the drink an attractive light green tint that is easy to match to tiki umbrellas, or anything else you might want to use as garnish!
We think that this is a great party drink because it is always a hit and it is easy to make up large batches to serve a crowd. Midori is the primary liqueur in this version of the drink and that lowers the overall alcohol content slightly, which means that you can enjoy a second serving (at least!) when you’re entertaining on a warm summer evening.
